April was my month off and I spent it mainly at home in Salmon Arm. I was tempted to go vacation somewhere hot (like joining my friend who was traveling in South America) but I decided that it wasn't in the budget for this year. Instead I went home and hung out with my family and friends. I had a great break, both mentally and physically, and I was able to stay fit with skiing (xc, downhill and even telemarking), ultimate frisbee, soccer and climbing.
We started official training this week and it feels good to get back in the training routine again. Unfortunately I have a pulled muscle in my groin due to a combination of tight hip flexors and too much ultimate. I've been doing physio and hopefully it will heal quickly. Running is the only thing that irritates it so I'm banned from running for the next few weeks but everything else is fine. I've been spending a lot of time on my new road bike but I'll have to dust off my roller skis soon to get some variety.
The team is heading off to Silver Star on Sunday for a week and a half. Sovereign has lots of snow and they are grooming for part of May so we'll get a good chunk of time on snow. It will be the first camp for the Academy and I'm excited to see our new team in action!
On another note, I am going to be selling Buffs as a small fundraiser. If you are interested in buying one you can pick a design at www.buyabuff.com and email me at alyssonmarshall@gmail.com and I will order it for you.
Enjoy the sunshine!
