Welcome to my blog! I try to keep this updated with training and racing news as I pursue my Olympic dream.

I would like to thank the Alberta World Cup Society for funding the Academy program. Also, a big thanks to my awesome sponsors and of course my family who have supported me every step of the way!

I'm always looking for new sponsors so if you are interested or know of anyone who might be then contact me at alyssonmarshall(at)gmail.com for my sponsorship package.

July Training

I can't believe how fast July has disappeared! Since my last post I've done a testing week, a Haig glacier camp, finished my biochemistry course and put in some solid hours of training. I am feeling good and my spring injuries are a thing of the past as I have bounced back from my groin/hip flexor injury and mildly sprained ankle.

We had our first testing camp of the year at the end of June. Going into it I was aiming to get close to my personal bests. I surprised myself by beating my PB in the uphill skate time trial by 18 seconds and matching my PB in the uphill double pole test. Basically at the end of June I was at about the same fitness level as I was at the end of last summer. Now I just have to keep improving...

We went into the Haig Glacier on July 13. The Haig has been a part of my summers since I was 15. I wrote a long post about it last year so I won't go into details again but it was a really good camp. We had 4 sunny days which made for awesome skiing and I got lots of hours in. The 2nd annual Las Haigas Resort disc golf tournament was held over the week complete with a semi-formal awards banquet on Saturday night. Those of us eliminated in the first round created our own Loser League tournament complete with a toilet seat trophy which was won by Emily Nishikawa in a dramatic final. It was a good way to spend the afternoons at the glacier! There are lots of photos of the camp on the Academy website.

Next up is a 10-day camp in Whistler. We're going to take advantage of training at sea level and put in two big training weeks.
